Luxury NeighborhoodsHammock Oaks
Exclusivity is the name of the game in Coral Gables’ Hammock Oaks – a posh, gated neighborhood that’s home to hundreds of luxury properties.
Highlights
- Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden
First opened to the public in 1938, this venue is an 83-acre facility where tropical plants could grow outdoors year-round. Now home to over 3,400 plant species, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden also boasts several other features, such as a museum, a laboratory, a learning center, and a research facility dedicated to biodiversity conservation.
- The Biltmore
Built in 1926 by John McEntee Bowman and George Merrick, this is a luxury hotel renowned for its opulent amenities and top-quality service. The Biltmore is considered a prime example of Mission and Spanish Revival architecture, with its grand tower taking inspiration from the Giralda in Seville. Some of the hotel's patrons include actresses Ginger Rogers and Judy Garland, as well as singer Bing Crosby and former president Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Hammock Oaks can be found on the southern part of Coral Gables, just along Old Cutler Road. This puts the neighborhood close to places such as Downtown Coral Gables, as well as the communities of South Miami, Coconut Grove, and Pinecrest.
The majority of homes in Hammock Oaks are built in the Mediterranean Revival style and have interior floor areas of at least 3,000 square feet. These homes also sit on oversized lots, which provide prospective residents with enough space for projects like basketball courts, swimming pools, or outdoor living spaces with extra wiggle room. In addition, a good number of these properties are waterfront homes – a boon for those who enjoy being on the water.
Homes in Hammock Oaks typically range in price from $2 million to $4 million, although it is not rare for some properties in the neighborhood to fetch prices of more than $10 million.
