Top Summer Events in Miami: 4th of July Through August

As a resident or frequent summer visitor to Miami or South Florida, you are certainly familiar with never feeling bored – especially as we move through the 4th of July and beyond!

Sometimes, though, the amount of events can be a bit staggering – even for those of us long accustomed to the Miami lifestyle.  Hopefully, our top four July 4th and August events will help you select the perfect happenings to enjoy the long weekends ahead:

Key Biscayne Fourth of July Parade:
This year marks the 51st occasion of the always exciting, always family friendly Key Biscayne Fourth of July Parade.  Arrive early to see a flyover of jets mark the parade’s launch, and stay throughout for patriotically themed floats and live music.  The parade moves down Crandon Boulevard from Harbor Drive to West Enid, beginning at 11am.

America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park
From 3pm – 9pm, find yourself enjoying food and multicultural music at one of the most beautiful parks in South Florida.  But don’t tire yourself out, because at 9pm, the real excitement begins. One of the region’s largest fireworks displays closes out what is sure to be one of your most memorable Independence Days yet.  Bayfront Park is located at 301 N. Biscayne Boulevard in Miami.

Old Fashioned Fourth of July Picnic at the Barnacle

Enjoy a traditional Fourth of July picnic with The Barnacle Society. Activities include lawn games, knot tying lessons, house tours, live music by Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band, and more.

Bring your own picnic and cooler, or feast on hot dogs, popcorn and soda, all available for purchase at the event.  The Barnacle Historic State Park is located at 3485 Main Highway in Coconut Grove.  The event begins at 11am.

There are many more events happening in the South Florida area to enjoy 4th of July festivities.  We ( believe that one of the best places to watch fireworks is on the water in Biscayne Bay  Park in front of Bayfront Park or Key Biscayne for the best, unobstructed views.  Have a fun and safe 4th of July!
